The school year of 2019 2020 started out like every other school year. We welcomed 43 new Junior infants and 3 temporary staff to the school when we opened the doors in late August. At that time there was no mention of the word Coronovirus or Covid 19. The children and teachers settled in and work started like every other year. Little did we know that after March 12th we would be teaching and learning from home for the remainder of the school year. We are so proud of all the children for working so hard and taking it all in their stride. Below are a selection of photographs and art work that the children completed while they were in school and at home.
One of the first jobs in the school year is to elect the student council.
The children made their choices and the School Council was elected.
As always in Autumn the garden needs some work and the children really enjoyed working at it.
ART is a huge part of the school year, below are different pictures from various classes showing off our art Work.
Halloween is always a fun day and a SCARY day in our school
We had a visit from Skippy John from "SKIPPING 4 LIFE" on Thursday November 28th 2019.
Christmas is always an exciting time in Scoil Mhuire Allenwood
Grandparents Day was greatly supported this year. Look at all the Grandparents that visited the school.
1st Class did a History Project and really enjoyed it!
Sports is one of our favourite things to do in Scoil Mhuire. We have lots of fun learning Football, Soccer and doing PE.
When our school closed on March 12th we didn't realise that it would be for so many weeks, however the children continued to us pictures of their work & play during lockdown.
Finally we had to say goodbye to 6th class and we wish them well as they begin secondary school in September. Below we have some photographs of some of the boys and girls when they started in Junior Infants. Can you recognise anyone?
